The 5th Annual Run for Ella is scheduled for Sept. 14 at the Cotton Mill Preserve on the Shelbyville Highway.
Run for Ella was created in 2009 as a fundraiser for the family of Ella Brown who was injured in an accident. Since that time, the event has raised over $52,000 to help Lincoln County families with children in need.
A 10K and 5K race gets underway at 8 a.m. The first 2.5 miles will be the same for the 10K and 5K. The 10K splits to a more challenging course – expect hills, rocks, roots and mud if it rains.
A 1-mile run/walk starts at 9 a.m.
Two aid stations will be provided in the 5K run and three in the 10K providing water only. Additional water, sports drinks, fruit and Popsicles will be available at the start/finish line.
Early registration for the 10K is $30; cost is $35 the day of race. Early registration for the 5K is $25; cost is $30 the day of race. The 1-mile walk/run is $12 and $15 on the day of the race.
All runners pre-registered by Sept. 8 will receive a T-shirt provided by NDesigns.
Awards will be presented at 9:30 a.m.
