Riverside Christian Academy middle and high school students spent the last day of school before the Christmas holiday serving the community.
RCA students, faculty and staff gathered for the daily chapel service and enjoyed the Friday morning tradition of “the family circle singing”, which is a time when the whole student body gathers together in a circle on the gym floor to sing hymns.
Later, the sixth through 12th grade students made Christmas ornaments and cards for nursing home and assisted living residents. Afterward, students and teachers boarded buses and went to sing Christmas carols to residents of Lincoln Care Center, Southern Manor Living Center and Bailey Manor.
“We hope to make this project an annual tradition of our students on the last day of school before the Christmas holidays,” said James Bryant, RCA’s head of school. “We want to teach them that serving their community is important.”
