Senior T’Essence Phelps has earned G-MAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors after she helped guide the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers to a pair of league wins earlier in January to move to 9-4 overall, while KWC remained a perfect 4-0 in the conference play.
Phelps averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals in the two victories for the Panthers.
During KWC’s 82-74 win over Cedarville on Jan. 2, Phelps recorded 18 points, converting on 8-of-9 free throw attempts, while going 2-for-3 from beyond the arch. She also posted four assists and two steals.
The Fayetteville native collected her fifth double-double of the season in the 80-60 win over Central State on Jan. 4. Phelps recorded 16 points and 12 rebounds, as she went 8-for-13 from the field. She also collected two assists and one steal.
Phelps is currently second in the G-MAC in defensive rebounds (6.7 avg./g) and third in field goal percentage (.528).
