James Cellon Cox, 77, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday night (Aug. 21, 2012) in Lincoln Care Center. He was a native of Rogersville, Ala., and the son of the late Johnny and Dora Etta Thigpen Cox. Mr. Cox was a mechanic, former owner/operator of Cox V W Repair and a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Green and husband, Steven, of Glenwood, Iowa, Barbara Wolf and husband, Michael, of Fayetteville; son, Michael Cox of Lewisburg; step-children, Amy Burton of Fayetteville, Don Blackwell of Fayetteville, Steve Blackwell and wife, Christy, of Fayetteville and Jeff Blackwell of Fayetteville; several grandchildren; and step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; and his ex-wife and best friend, Lynda Mary Cox of Fayetteville. Bradley Joe Durham, 21, of Fayetteville, died Sunday (Aug. 19, 2012). James Mitchell Edmiston, 61, of Murfreesboro, died Thursday (Aug. 23, 2012) at St. Thomas Hospital. Mr. Edmiston was a native of Lincoln County, the son of the late J.R. Edmiston and Dessie Edmiston, who survives. He was an assembly worker and trucker driver. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by two aunts, Katheleen and Louise Edmiston. He was a loving father and husband. Along with his mother, he is survived by a beautiful, loving wife, Romona Norris Edmiston; two daughters, Gloria and Jenny Edmiston; son, Corey Edmiston; five brothers, Earnest (Mattie) Edmiston, Larry (Virgie) Edmiston, Bruce (Glenda) Edmiston, Kenneth Edmiston, D’Angelo Evans; two sisters, Wanda Edmiston and Annette Edmiston; four aunts, Altie Edmiston, Mollie Small, Annie Anderson and Bernice Edmiston; devoted in-laws, Fred (Joyce) Norris, Dexter Norris, Cordell Norris, Ava Radley; a special niece, Sydne Radley; grandchildren, Rod, Nelvia, Thomas, Cheyenne and Christopher Edmiston, Dasia Harper; great-grandchild, Izarion Harper; special cousins, Lou Jean Bradley, Anthony and Trevica Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jane Noles Groce, 82, of Fayetteville, died Friday (Aug. 24, 2012) at Donalson Care Center. She was born Dec. 28, 1929, to Riley and Mary Hastings Noles and was a native of Lincoln County. Mrs. Groce was a homemaker and member of the Washington Street Church of Christ. She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Groce of Nashville; sons, Stephen W. Groce (Marsha) of Estill Springs, Christopher Groce (Lisa) of Knoxville; sister, Elizabeth Marshall (Ray) of Florida; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs Groce was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wilson Groce, and grandson, Corey Groce. A celebration of her life will be held by the family at the Washington Street Church of Christ on Saturday, Sept. 8. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. with a memorial service conducted by Bro. Ida K. Lee, 89, of Huntland, died Monday (Aug. 20, 2012) at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. She was born Jan. 19, 1923 in Huntland, the daughter of the late Orla and Rosa (Coker) Knoer. Mrs. Lee was the wife of Claude Lee for 71 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, George Knoer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Rodney (Beth) Lee, Eddie Lee and Johnny (Connie) Lee; daughter, Lanna (Eddie) Glaus; brothers, Lester Knoer and Paul Wayne Knoer; sisters, Emma Foster, Mable Morris, Ethel Kinningham and Willie Moore; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. William “Doc” Oliver, 75, of Ardmore, Ala., Ardmore chief of police for 34 years, died on Monday (Aug. 20, 2012) at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Ala.
