Karen Jared Parsons, 58, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday (Aug. 19, 2013) at her residence. She was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of Don and Christine Cunningham Jared, who survive. Mrs. Parsons was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, a retired schoolteacher where she influenced and molded the lives of children for 35 years. Mrs. Parsons was a member of the Lincoln County Education Association, the Tennessee Education Association and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Bill Parsons, and a son, Jared Parsons, both of Fayetteville. Visitation was held at Higgins Funeral Home on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family, request memorials be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Donna Jo Bishop, 61, of Fayetteville, died Friday evening (Aug. 16, 2013) in Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mrs. Bishop was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of Pauline Fite Stubblefield and the late Thomas Bishop. She was a homemaker and a member of the McBurg Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Kim Thompson and fiancé, Chadez Griffin, of Huntsville, Ala.; mother, Pauline Stubblefield of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Kassidy, Caylann, Daeshawn, Alexia, all of Huntsville; sisters, Charlene Cunningham and husband, Bill, Debbie Dempsey and husband, Paul, both of Fayetteville; brother, Dwight Bishop of Fayetteville. Mailene P. Smith, 88, of Fayetteville, died Friday evening (Aug. 16, 2013) at Lincoln Medical Center. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Carl L. and Bess Conaway Parks. She worked for Jonathan Logan and was a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Carla Doss and husband, Ronnie, of Petersburg; grandchildren, Stephen Fitzsimmons and wife, Megan, of Memphis, Chris Doss of Lewisburg, Cathy Patterson of Petersburg; great-grandchildren, Colin Fitzsimmons of Memphis, Houston Welch and Dee Wells, both of Petersburg. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Smith, and brother, Carl L.
