NGA finishes with undefeated season

Ninth Grade Academy’s Lady Falcons wrapped up their season of Junior Varsity action defeating Shelbyville at home Thursday night, 53-36.

The ladies finish with a 12-0 record averaging better than 58 points a game while giving up just over 30 – and Coach Sherry Horton gave her bench a lot of minutes through out the season.

Once the Lady Falcons were up, usually long before the end of the first quarter, they never trailed in any of their games.

In the action with the Lady Eagles the ladies were up 17-7 at the end of one.

In the second period Coach Horton put 10 players on the floor. The Lady Falcons won the quarter 13-7 and were up 29-14 at the break.

Horton continued to work her bench in the second half. The ladies won the two periods 24-22 to finish with the win.

Nine of the Lady Falcons put points on the board led by Samantha Williams with 12; Sy Buchanan added 10; McKinley Fitch and Rebecca Lewter had 7; Chelsea Gatlin finished with 6; Darian Norman and Kayla Parks scored 4; Jessica Ferguson had 2; and Lauren Gower scored 1.

The ladies dropped 20 shots from the paint and 1 from the arch coming from Chelsea Gatlin. From the line NGA was 10 of 26 with Williams going 6 of 7 from the stripe.
