A man, who was pulled over by police after reportedly running a red traffic light on Huntsville Highway Wednesday, was allegedly found to be in possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamine and ephedrine.

According to Detective Dion Shockley, the suspect, Jason Adams, was stopped by Patrolman Nathan Massey and had a suspended license from Mississippi.

“He was arrested during a search of his person,” said Shockley, adding that Adams was found with one-fourth of a gram of meth and 19 grams of ephedrine powder, a substance used to make meth.

“His girlfriend, Chelsea Underwood, was also charged with promotion of meth manufacture,” Shockley said. “He just moved into town one month ago.”

Adams, of Maple Street, Fayetteville, was charged with promotion of the manufacture of methamphetamine, driving on a suspended license and possession of a schedule II drug (meth). He was held at the Lincoln County Jail on $75,000 bond.

Chelsea Ryan Underwood, 28, of 1699 Scott Road, Hazel Green, was held at the Lincoln County Jail on $18,000 bond.
