Local soil conservation district holds banquet

Jimmy Luna was awarded the 2012 Star in Conservation award during the Lincoln County Soil Conservation District's fifth annual awards banquet. Poster contest winners were also recognized during the evening.

Lincoln County Soil Conservation District held its Fifth Annual Awards Banquet recently at Lincoln County High School.

Landowners braved the rain to join the District in honoring The Star in Conservation and Poster Contest winners. The 2012 Star in Conservation award winner is Jimmy Luna, and poster contest winners are Fisk, second; Benjamin Fisk, fifth; Jesse Franklin, ninth; and Samantha Tucker, 11th. Eli and Benjamin Fisk were present to receive their awards.

The Deputy Commissioner of Tennessee Department of Agriculture Jai Templeton and Regional Director for External Affairs of TN Department of Environment Karen Stevenson were among the guest speakers. The evening was filled with good company and conservation stewardship.

The Soil Conservation District would like to give a special thanks to Scivally Grain Company for sponsoring the catered dinner by Route 55 BBQ & Diner. The District would also like to thank Gail Randolph of Keep Fayetteville-Lincoln County Beautiful, Inc., Frito Lay, Tennessee Soy Bean Council, Lincoln County FFA, Betty Eslick and Mac Rogers for other donations and door prizes.
