A Lincoln County man has been charged with multiple counts of assault after allegedly firing shots when deputies responded to a call at the suspect’s residence.

Billy Wayne Syler, 41, 11 Harper Drive, was charged with four counts of aggravated assault, including the assault of two local deputies.

According to investigators, two Lincoln County deputies were dispatched to 11 Harper Drive on a report of shots fired around 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Sgt. Jon MacDonald and Deputy Jarrod Barrow reportedly knocked on the door of the residence several times, getting no response from the occupant when they happened to catch a glimpse of someone standing in the living room holding a handgun through a window, according to Investigator Doug Boeringer.
