Seven Lincoln County 4-H’ers competed in the State Hippology contest held on Feb. 23-24 at University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Hippology is a competition that tests the horse knowledge of 4-H’ers in fourth through 12th grades. Students are given a written exam, identification slides and must judge two horse show classes. Scores are tabulated and awards are given for both high-scoring individuals and teams.
Team awards received at this year’s state competition are Junior Division Team, third place, with team members Brooke Biles, Carrie Brigham and KayLee Sells, and the Senior Division Team, ninth place, with team members Julie Avila, Shelby Frazier, Mahayla Goedde and Chayton Stephens.
Individual awards went to Carrie Brigham, fifth place, junior, and Brooke Biles, 10th place, junior.
The Horse Project Group was to meet March 5 and will meet again April 2 and May 7 at the extension office at 5 p.m. No horse is required to participate. This is open to fourth through 12th graders. For more information, contact Joy Brigham at 334-790-0372.
