‘Legacies of Our Ancestors’ contest set

Posted on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 3:32 pm

The Tennessee Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the local Kings Mountain Messenger Chapter are sponsoring a Legacies of Our Ancestors poster contest open to all students in grades 4-7.

Information packets have been delivered to all Lincoln County schools. Information is also available at the Fayetteville-Lincoln County public library.

A notable person buried in a local cemetery should be the subject of the poster. Students may find the Lincoln County Heritage Book, Lincoln County Pictorial History (Vol. 1 and 2) and the Lincoln County Cemetery Book helpful when doing research for their posters. All of these books are available at the public library, the Lincoln County Genealogical Society and the Lincoln County Archives.

There will be a winner selected from each grade level. Deadline for submission is Jan. 10, 2014. Posters will be collected from the individual schools. They may also be turned in at the public library, located on North Elk Avenue in Fayetteville.

For more information about the contest, call 931-625-0661.
