LC tennis team opens with wins

Tennis Racket and BallsLincoln County High School’s tennis team opened district action with wins last week.

Monday’s match with Columbia was postponed due to rain. Thursday, the girls and boys both picked up wins on the road over Franklin County.

The Falcons won 7-0. In singles action, Daniel Selfridge won 8-2; Matthew Posey, 8-0; Barrett Wright, 8-0; Patrick Scott, 8-3; Brian Shouse won 8-0.

In doubles play, Selfridge/Posey won 8-3; Wright/Scott won 8-5; Justin Plunkett/Blaze Harell won 8-0.

The Lady Falcons won 6-1. Morgan Helums won singles action 8-0; Chelsi Wheat, 8-1; Hanna Counts lost 5-8; Lauren Gower, 8-0; Ashley Atkinson, 8-3.

In doubles action, Gower/Helums won 8-0; Wheat/Counts won 8-4; Jasmine Bello/Sarah Watson won 8-0; Hayle McGee/Jessica Pearson won 6-1.

For their next action, Lincoln County travels to Shelbyville on Monday, then on to Columbia on Tuesday. Matches start at 4 p.m.
