Land needed for Kids Hunting for Cure

Posted on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 5:12 pm

Land for hunting is needed for the sixth annual Kids Hunting for a Cure scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27.

“We need landowners to allow kids to hunt on Oct. 27,” said Leith Konyndyk, TWRA officer. “There will be a guide with them.”

He noted that some landowners may be worried about liability issues.

“A state law keeps the landowner from liability,” Konyndyk explained.

The Kids Hunting for a Cure also carries insurance – “We buy an insurance policy for Kids Hunting for a Cure.”

Anyone who can donate the use of their land on Oct. 27 for the Kids Hunting for a Cure event is asked to call Konyndyk at 615-339-3694.

Kids Hunting for a Cure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. A check for $50,000, proceeds from the event last year, was sent to St. Jude. The funds will be used for research and development.

Prior to the hunt this year, on Friday, Oct. 26, there will be an auction to assist in raising funds and all day games, archery and other events for kids Saturday afternoon.
