Lincoln County High School’s Lady Falcons picked up an out-of-district win in their opening game of the new year, 46-38.
It didn’t come easy – the ladies trailed 9-1 at the end of the first quarter. LCHS began their recovery in the second, winning the frame, 13-6, and trailing, 15-14, at the intermission.
The ladies broke the game open in the third, winning the eight minutes, 23-10. Coach Herman Hardin worked deep into his bench much of the second half. At one point, the Lady Falcons were up by 21 points, 36-15. LCHS won the two quarters, 32-23, for the win.
Cortney Storey finished with 12; Morgan Higgins, 11; McKinley Slayton, 8; Samantha Williams, 7; Lauren Gower, 4; Brianna Sanders and Bethany Lamon scored 2.
The ladies were 14 of 28 from the paint and 3 of 20 from the arch. From the line, LCHS was 9 of 18.
The Lady Tigers won the boards, 33-31, but the Lady Falcons won the turnover battle, 24-16, picking up 22 points off miscues.
