Lady Falcons fall in semis

Lincoln County High School’s Taylor Boyett brings the heat in the Lady Falcons’ district tournament win over Franklin County.

Lincoln County High School’s Lady Falcon softball team’s season came to an end in the semifinals of District 8-AAA action Saturday. 

After winning the district regular season with an 8-2 record, the ladies won over Franklin County but took back-to-back defeats from Shelbyville and Tullahoma.

In softball, the top two teams from the district advance to the regionals. Shelbyville defeated Tullahoma, 7-5, in the championship.

The Lady Falcons wrap up their season with a 34-17 overall record.

Receiving All-District honors were Baylee Hammons, Taylor Ferguson, Taylor Boyett, who was named Most Valuable Pitcher, Lauren Hunter and Miller Baggett.

Franklin County

After getting a bye in the first round of tournament action, the Lady Falcons defeated Franklin County at home, 4-1.

The ladies scored 1 in the second, 1 in the fourth and 2 in the fifth.

The run for the Lady Rebels came in the top of the seventh and wasn’t earned.

Taylor Boyett went the distance, giving up 6 hits with 5 strikeouts and hitting 1 batter.

The ladies had 8 hits with Riley O’Neal having a single and double; Holley Gray, 2 singles; Lauren Hunter, Taylor Boyett, Miller Baggett and Kristen Hancock, single.

O’Neal, Baggett and Hancock had RBIs.

After the win over the Lady Rebs, the ladies matched up with the Lady Eagles and took a tough loss, 17-2. It’s the second time Shelbyville has 10-run ruled the Lady Falcons.

The Lady Eagles scored 4 in the first, 5 in the second, 4 in the third and 4 in the fourth.

The two runs for the Lady Falcons came on a two-run homer by Taylor Ferguson.

In addition to Ferguson’s shot, Hunter doubled, and Boyett and Hammons singled.

Boyett gave up 9 hits with 1 strikeout and 1 walk. Hunter gave up 8 hits with 2 strikeouts and 4 walks. Breanna Owens gave up 1 hit.


The loss to the Lady Eagles sent the ladies to the losers’ bracket to take on Tullahoma Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats took the win, 2-0.

The first five innings were scoreless. but Tullahoma added 1 in the sixth and 1 in the seventh. One run was earned; the ladies had 2 errors.

Boyette gave up 2 hits, with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks in the books.

The ladies made contact at the plate with just three strikeouts but finished with four hits. Hammons had a single and double, O’Neal doubled and Shelton singled.
