Imagination Library Race set Sept. 22

Posted on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Beautiful weather, a fast, flat course through the scenic and historic parts of Fayetteville and exciting prizes will comprise the 3rd annual Imagination Library Race.

On Sept. 22, at 8 a.m., runners will gather at Stone Bridge Park to join with others in the community to help raise money for this worthy organization.

The Imagination Library purchases books for infants through the age of five years. These books are free of charge and available to anyone who wishes to receive them.  By participating in this year’s 5K race or 1 mile walk, you will be helping provide books to all of our local children.

Race Director, Helen Fussell, would like to encourage everyone to come out and be a part of this race. Both adults and children are welcome to run or to walk the 5K course.   Overall male and female winners will receive a generous gift card from Fleet Feet, as well as a surprise award. First, second and third in each age group will also receive gift cards, plus custom medals.

Following the race, there will be a 1 mile walk around the beautiful Stone Bridge Park. All walkers will receive a ribbon upon completion. There will be many exciting door prizes given away, as well.

To register for the race, you may go to Active.com and type in Imagination Library, or you may pick up applications at the Patrick, Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville Fitness Center, US Bank or the Imagination Library page on Facebook.

On race day, the 5K race begins at 9 a.m., with the 1 mile walk starting at 9 a.m. Awards will be presented at 9:45 a.m.

Cost is $30 for the 5K, which includes a T-shirt. Registration is $10 for the 1 mile walk and $15 for the walk plus a T-shirt.

Once you have registered, package pickup will be available at the Elk River Coffee shop on Friday, Sept. 21, from 3 until 6 pm.

Race Day registration will be available, but the cost increases, and you may not get the T-shirt size that you want. Race day registration opens at 7 a.m.
