If only Princess could talk, she’d have a big story to tell

If Mark and Teresa Mitchell’s four-pound Yorkie, Princess, could talk, she’d surely have a big story to tell.

Stolen from her owners’ home here during an aggravated burglary on July 24, Princess was finally returned to her rightful owners Tuesday — 43 days after the ordeal got its start.

“First and foremost, we would like to thank Mr. Ron Cantrell,” said Mark last week. “If he had not taken the pictures, the man who took our dog wouldn’t have been caught, and we would never have gotten her back.”

Cantrell, a neighbor, not only took pictures of the burglar, which were shared almost 1,800 times on Mark’s Facebook page as well as hundreds of times on the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department page, but he also tried to stop him from leaving the scene. Drug by the suspect’s vehicle in the attempt, Cantrell was roughed up, but his pictures, also shared on social media, led to an arrest within just a few days.
