Classes will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. and on Saturday at 8 a.m. on the Norris Creek Gun Range.
Participants will learn about hunter ethics and responsibility, firearm safety, handling and care, modern firearms, muzzleloaders, archery, wildlife identification, tree stand safety, field safety and survival/first aid.
All materials and classes are free. Students must attend all classes to be certified.
All hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1969 must complete this course before they hunt in Tennessee. Students must be nine years of age to be certified. Parents and non-residents are welcome to take the course.
Instructors will include Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency officers and volunteers. Everyone should bring their Social Security and a number two pencil.
