The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting driver license roadside safety checkpoints during the week of Aug. 1 on State Route 275 at the 4.5 mile marker beginning at 8 p.m. in Lincoln County.
A second driver license roadside checkpoint will be held Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. on U.S. Highway 431 at the 2.6 mile marker.
Recognizing the danger presented to the public by unqualified drivers, troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who violate the driver license laws of Tennessee.
Additionally, the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting safety belt roadside checkpoints during the week of Aug. 3 at 9 p.m. on State Route 50 at the 15.8-mile marker in Lincoln County.
Recognizing the danger to unbelted vehicle occupants, troopers will target those who operate a vehicle while unbelted and take corrective actions for other violations observed.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has found these driver license roadside safety checkpoints and safety belt checkpoints to be effective means of enforcing driver license and safety belt laws of Tennessee while ensuring the protection of motorists and vehicle occupants.
