Lincoln County Republican Party meets the first Thursday of each month. The party’s next meeting is set for Thursday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Fayetteville Municipal Building. Guest speaker will be Jack Maddux who is running for U.S. Congress.


Prayer on the Square will be held at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the bandstand at the Lincoln County Courthouse.


Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Public Library.


Softball and Baseball Sign-Ups will continue at Fayetteville recreation from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Fayetteville Recreation Center on the Winchester Highway. For information, call 931-433-6059.

Lincoln County FFA Alumni’s Annual Chili & Trivia Night will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, in the cafeteria of Lincoln County High School. Organizers will begin serving chili at 6 p.m., with trivia beginning at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10, which includes chili, a drink and dessert. The event will feature local vendors from 4-9 p.m., including Donna Pepper Norwex, DeDra Baker Scentsy, Sharon Williams Nana’s Sewing Closet, Jo Ellen Honey The Daily Bread, Janet Anderson Mama J’s, Nan Howard Moultrie Tupperware, Debbie Self Simms Mary Kay, Felicia Robinson LaLaRoe, Chelsie Walk Matilda Jane, Beth Kee Young Living, Tammy Fowler Plunder, and Treva Doud Buntley Cheebie K’s.


The Highland Rim Chapter of the TN Ornithological Society will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the Fayetteville First Presbyterian Church Family Life Center. Jack Carman, noted author and photographer of Tennessee wildflowers, will present “The Wildflowers of Lincoln County.” The program, co-hosted by Jim and Rachel Harwell, Rhonda Seitzinger, Jamie Dennis, and Eugene Ham, will be followed by refreshments.


Lincoln Hospice is hosting a Lunch and Learn at the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center on Friday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m. to discuss volunteering with Hospice.


The Annual FCE Sweetheart Cake Bake, a fundraiser, will be held Friday, Feb. 9, at the Ralph Hastings Building on East Davidson Drive. Businesses and individuals are invited to sponsor some of the best bakers in the countywide competition. Benefit Steak Dinner for Sam Ragan of Sam’s Place will be held Saturday, Feb. 10. Plates are $25 and include steak, potato, roll and salad – it’s carry-out only with pick-up from 4-5:30 p.m. at American Development Corp. at 821 William D. Jones Blvd., Fayetteville.


The Third Annual Night of Hope Ball, fundraiser for the Lincoln County Relay for Life, will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, beginning at 5 p.m., at the Sacred Stone Event Center at 47 Hawthorn Lane. The cost is $50 per couple. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Tracy Holder at 931-227-8744.


Dickie Bolles Benefit, featuring dinner, an auction and entertainment, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Fayetteville Elks Lodge 1792. Tickets, $10, each are on sale now at the Elks Lodge and Ivy Wreath. Dickie was diagnosed with bone and liver cancer, and is facing mounting medical bills.


The Friends of the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Library’s Spring Gala and Auction will be held 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Library. Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased at the main office of the Bank of Lincoln County or at Carter’s Drug Store or Bagley and Bagley Insurance on the square. The event will feature silent and live auctions, with auctioneer John Hoagland serving as auctioneer. Blue Velvet will also be performing.

Regular events

Overeater’s Anonymous meets each Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Classroom 207, at 200 North Elk, Fayetteville. Compulsive overeaters and food addicts are invited to attend.  Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is not a diet club. There are no dues or fees or weigh-ins. Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held each Monday (closed meeting) at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, 106 East Washington; each Thursday (open) at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene; and each Saturday (open) at 9 a.m. at West End Baptist. For more information, call (931) 227-7908.


Weekly Saturday night dances are held at the American Legion Post 42, 2007 Wilson Pkwy., from 7-10 p.m. The dance is open to the public. The facility is a nonsmoking building, though a smoking area is provided outside. Country Roads Band plays a mix of country, country rock and classic rock and roll music. The cover charge is $6 per person. The kitchen grill is open for the sale of sandwiches, fries and soft drinks. The American Legion is a nonprofit organization, and proceeds from the dances helps in the funding for the aide to the veterans of Lincoln County.



Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center’s Senior Dance is held each Tuesday from 1 until 4 p.m. Cover charge is $4 per person. A live band is on hand to provide music. Bring a dish to pass or just come and relax, listen to music, dance, eat and enjoy. The Senior Citizens Center is located at 908 West Washington Street, Fayetteville.


Senior citizens’ exercise classes are currently being held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center. The Elk River Book Club, sponsored by the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Public Library, meets the last Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Meetings are facilitated by local author Betty Bolte. Southern Middle Tennessee Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron meets every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on the second floor at the Ellington Airport in Lewisburg. Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force for ages 12 and up, volunteers whose missions are emergency services, aerospace, education and cadet programs.
