The Marshall County Amateur Radio Society will begin planning for the 2017 ARRL Field Day event at its regular monthly meeting Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m., in the conference room of the Marshall County Office of Emergency Management at the Hardison Office Annex, 230 College Street, in Lewisburg.
Coffee and a snack will be provided following the business portion of the meeting.
Field Day, a test of emergency communications readiness, is an annual event sponsored by the American Radio Relay League – the National Association of Amateur Radio. It’s expected that over 35,000 amateur radio operators from the U.S. and Canada will participate in this year’s event. The Marshall County club will set up a station at Rock Creek Park for 24 hours on Saturday, June 24.
Amateur radio operators and anyone with an interest in “ham” radio and emergency preparation are invited and welcome to attend. Talk-in to the meeting will be available on the Lewisburg 146.625 amateur radio repeater.
