Patch Manor, a tearoom in Manchester, was the destination of the Fayetteville Garden Club who met April 18 for its regular monthly meeting.
Nine members assembled at the city parking lot near Sir’s to drive to the meeting. They were Helen Price, Shirley Pressnell, Belle Clayton, Sara Shelton, Margaret Halcomb, Marjorie Clark, Marcia Ruffing, Jane Johnson and Ann Eady.
The drive to Manchester was beautiful, club members said, with all the trees in full bloom. The tearoom is located in a beautiful antebellum home with a well-groomed lawn. Inside was beautifully furnished. Fresh flowers were on each table, and a beautiful tall arrangement of red head branches and carnations decorated the hallway.
The menu consisted of a variety of items, including chicken casserole, green beans, sliced tomatoes seasoned with basil, rolls, fruit tea and regular tea. Salad plates were also available, as were delicious desserts.
A brief meeting was conducted, and officers were installed. The new president is Sara Shelton. Vice president is Peggy Cobb. Recording secretary is Shirley Pressnell. Treasurer is Jane Johnson. Historian is Marcia Ruffing. Sunshine is Margaret Halcomb. Belle Clayton is in charge of publicity.
During the trip to Manchester, club members took time to visit an antique shop located across the street from the museum.
In a separate gathering, a committee consisting of Jane Johnson, Marcia Ruffing and Belle Clayton met at the home of Sara Shelton to work on the yearbook. Programs were discussed and finalized for 2013 and 2014.
Fayetteville Garden Club members will visit Iris City Garden in Primm Springs for the May meeting.
