Former Lady Falcon and Middle Tennessee State signee Leslie Frye, a member of the Tennessee Soccer Club Showcase “99” girls’ team, finished in the top spot of the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship with a 2-1 overtime win over the Colorado Avalanche to take the title.

The ladies were one of the final eight teams to advance after taking the regional and state championships.

Frye led the Showcase “99” defense at the center back position.

TSC went 5-0 during the tournament, winning over Beading 99, 2-0, Arsenal Colorado Academy, 3-0, and National Union 99, 4-2, in the preliminaries. In the semis, the ladies defeated Cleveland FC in overtime, 2-1. It was there that Frye received a leg/ankle injury that would require surgery.

With the ladies’ title win, the team finished their season with an impressive 24-0-1.

“It’s a great feeling to be national champs,” Frye said. “We put a lot of hard work in it, and it paid off. Now, I’ve got to recover from the injury and get ready for MTSU.”
