On Dec. 9, Fayetteville Public Utilities (FPU) sent a crew of eight men to assist with power restoration in North Georgia after the area was hit by a winter storm that brought six to eight inches of heavy snow.
“At the peak of the snowstorm, hundreds of thousands of people in North Georgia were without power, and we wanted to help,” said CEO/General Manager Britt Dye. “Our FPU crew headed to Cobb County Electric Membership Corporation in Marietta, Georgia, because they were reporting almost half of their customers were without power.”
The FPU crew spent four days restoring power to the heavily populated area north of Atlanta. Those assisting in the power restoration effort included Dale Moran, Rickey Brown, Todd Gleghorn, Troy Doud, Terry Honea, Tim Shelton, Mike Buntley and Gerardo Villafuerte.
“We are glad to be able to help out in times of emergency such as this,” said Dye. “If FPU ever has an emergency situation, and we are in need of assistance from surrounding utilities, we know we can count on others to come to our aid.”
