FHS Tiger baseball ends with Raiders

Fayetteville High School logoFayetteville High School’s Tiger baseball team’s season came to and end in the second round of District 9-A tournament action.

Middle Tennessee Christian advances to region action as the winner, and Forrest keeps playing baseball as the runner-up.

Thursday, FHS went down, 12-2, to Moore County in five innings.

The Raiders broke the game open quickly, scoring 7 runs in the first, 1 in the second, 1 in the third and 3 in the fifth.

The runs for the Tigers came in the top of the fifth as Fayetteville put a string of hits together. Ryan Yates reached on a single. Jacob Pigg singled to center field, scoring Yates. Darrion King then singled, scoring Pigg.

The Tigers had 6 hits with 2 singles from Yates. Pigg, King, Potts and Taylor had singles.

Yates went three innings on the mound, giving up 9 runs, 2 earned, off 7 hits, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Harwell finished giving up 3 runs, 1 earned, off 2 hits, 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.

Fayetteville had 3 errors defensively.
