As February quickly approaches, so does the Family and Community Education Club’s annual Sweetheart Cake Bake fundraiser. This year it will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, the Ralph Hastings Building on East Davidson Drive in Fayetteville.
Many Lincoln County businesses and individuals sponsored some of the best bakers in the county to bake a cake for them and enter it in the countywide competition.
“This is the first fundraiser of the year for the FCE, formerly the Home Demonstration Club, and one of our biggest money makers,” said Lisa Ritter, Lincoln County FCE reporter. “If you sponsored a cake last year and have not already been contacted by one of the FCE members, you will be hearing from them very soon.”
If you didn’t sponsor a cake last year and would like to participate this year, please feel free to contact the UT Extension Office at 931-433-1582, Lisa Ritter at 931-993-4236, or any FCE member near you.
“For anyone not familiar with the FCE or the cake bake, all money raised goes towards scholarships for Lincoln County graduating seniors and scholarships for children to attend the 4-H camp in the summer,” Ritter said. “Last year, because of the generosity of Lincoln Countians, we were able to award two $500 scholarships to graduating seniors and provide $930 toward 4-H scholarships for attendance to summer camp.
“The FCE appreciates the growing participation in our fundraising activities, and we are looking forward to another year of increasing financial support from the community,” she added. “We are available to provide volunteers, goods, or financial assistance to anyone in the county who requests it.”
If there is anything FCE can do for you or your organization, please don’t hesitate to make your needs known through the UT Extension Office by calling Ethel Bonner or Eydie Foster at 931-433-1582 or Lisa Ritter at 931-933-4236.
“Thank you again for your support Lincoln County!” she added.
