Lincoln County High School’s Falcons split in basketball action last week.
On Thursday, the Falcons won at home over Moore County but went down on the road Monday to Marshall County.
Against the Raiders, Lincoln County had to come from behind, trailing 15-12 at the end of one and down 27-23 at the break. But, the Falcons won the third quarter, 15-8, as Eli Slayton nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. LCHS was up 38-35 at the end of three.
Lincoln County broke the game open, taking the final stanza, 21-9, with three’s coming from Xavier Talley-Hyde, Tyler Jones and Fred Boyd. At the buzzer, the Falcons had the win, 59-44.
Austin Grimes led for LCHS with 17 points, hitting 3 from the arch; Xavier Talley-Hyde, 13; Tyler Jones, 10; Keller Monks and Fred Boyd, 5; Quintez Perry, 4; Eli Slayton, 3; and Ryan Hall scored 2.
The Falcons were 2 of 5 from the line.
On Monday of last week, LCHS was defeated on the road, 53-44, by Marshall County.
The Tigers were up at the end of one, 14-8. The Falcons won the second frame, 16-12, and trailed 26-24 at the intermission.
Marshall hung on, taking the second half, 27-20, to finish with the win.
Xavier Talley Hyde and Austin Grimes led the scoring with 13; Ryan Hall, 9; Trevor Jean, Tyler Jones and Fred Boyd scored 3.
The Falcons were 4 of 22 from the arch and 4 of 6 from the line.
For their next action, LCHS was to travel to Hazel Green on Monday of this week, then play in Cannon County’s Thanksgiving Tournament at 8 p.m. on Friday, then at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
