Lincoln County High School’s Falcons split in their first week of basketball action, winning their opener over Page but falling to the state-ranked Siegel Stars.
In their season opener Tuesday at home against the Page Patriots, the Falcons took the win, 60-46. Lincoln County was up 26-22 at the intermission. LCHS won the second half, 34 to 24, for the win.
Xavier Talley-Hyde led for LCHS with 18; Trevor Jean, 11; Fred Boyd, 8; Quintez Perry, 7; Austin Grimes, 6; Tyler Jones, 4; Eli Slayton, 3; Ryan Hall, 2; and Austin Bennett had 1.
Lincoln County was 22 of 53 from the paint and 6 of 26 from the arch. From the line, the Falcons were 10 of 15.
LCHS won the boards, 40-30, led by Perry with 8, and the team finished with 18 turnovers.
Thursday, the Falcons hosted the number 8 ranked Siegel Stars and went down, 97-46.
The Stars jumped out to a quick 30-8 first quarter lead and were up 61-26 at the break. Siegel won the second half, 36-20, for the win.
Xavier Talley-Hyde led for LCHS with 11; Austin Grimes, 9; Quintez Perry, 7; Keller Monks and Fred Boyd, 5; Ryan Hall, 3; Trevor Jean, Shelton Smith and Tyler Jones had 2.
The Falcons were 27 of 42 from the paint and 8 of 19 from the arch. From the line, LCHS was 19 of 25.
Siegel won the boards, 36-31. The Falcons finished with 24 turnovers.
For their next action, Lincoln County was to travel to Marshall County on Monday of this week, then host Moore County on Thursday. Game times are at 6 p.m.
