Lincoln County High School’s Falcons split in their first week of action.
LCHS took their season opener Tuesday on the road at Page, 58-40. Thursday, the Falcons hosted Siegel and went down, 66-42.
Page is a member of District 12-AA from Franklin. The Stars are part of District 7-AAA out of Murfreesboro.
In their season opener, the Falcons had a pretty easy time of defeating the Patriots. LCHS was up 15-8 at the end of one and 30-17 by the break.
Coach Chad Tipps used 10 players during the course of the game. The Patriots won the second half, 28-23.
LCHS finished on top by 18.
Justin Blackwell led for the Falcons with 16 points. B.J. Thompson had a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling 17 rebounds; Riley Malone, 10; Ty Lewter, 8; Zavier Talley-Hyde, Jaquez Thompson and Tyler Jones, 3; and Tradarius Christian scored 2.
LCHS was 24 of 47 from the paint and 4 of 9 from the arch. From the line, the Falcons were 6 of 15.
Lincoln County dominated the glass, 50 to 23. Thompson’s 17 was high. Malone pulled 8.
The Falcons lost the turnover battle, 22-1.
Thursday night Lincoln County hosted Siegel and went down, 66-42.
The Stars put an athletic team on the floor – the Falcons couldn’t run with them for the 32 minutes.
Trailing 14-8 at the end of one and 35-22 at the break, Lincoln County came back in the third quarter. With 4:30 on the clock, B.J. Thompson nailed a 3-pointer, making it a 37-30 ball game, but that was as close as it would get.
The Stars put their foot back on the accelerator, taking the fourth quarter, 20-6, for the win.
Thompson had his second double-double in as many games, scoring 22 points and pulling 13 rebounds. Christian and Blackwell had 6; Jones and Trevor Jean had 3; Lewter had 2.
The Falcons were 17 of 56 from the paint and 4 of 19 from the arch. LCHS was 4 of 13 from the line.
The Stars won the boards, 51-32. Lincoln County finished with 17 turnovers and Siegel had 13.
For their next action, the Falcons travel to Moore County Tuesday with game time at 6 p.m.
