Fayetteville boasts of having the largest fabric store in the southeast at Sir’s Fabrics, located just off the square at 110 Elk Avenue North. On just about any given day, customers come from seven states to shop at the business.
Opened by Mr. Joe Sir in 1948, Sir’s started out as a dry goods store that primarily served the local community. Through the years, Joe realized that the needs of his customers were changing, and he eventually expanded his business to include fabrics and notions.
A legendary businessman, visionary and community leader, Joe successfully developed special purchasing relationships with national mills and manufacturers, growing the business to serve the entire Mid-South region of the United States. The business is still owned and operated by members of the Sir family, who continue the tradition of offering high-quality fabric at discounted prices.
