      1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center’s Senior Dance is held each Tuesday from 1 until 4 p.m. Cover charge is $3 per person. A live band is on hand to provide music. Bring a dish to pass or just come and relax, listen to music, dance, eat and enjoy. The Senior Citizens Center is located at 908 West Washington Street, Fayetteville.

    2. Ornithological Society meets
      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Tennessee Ornithological Society: Highland Rim Chapter will meet Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the First Presbyterian Church in Tullahoma. The business meeting will commence at 6 p.m. with light refreshments at 6:30 p.m. and a talk at 7 p.m. by Lisa Trail on wild turkeys.  Also, Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. is Swift Night Out at the Tullahoma High School parking lot. Bring a chair and binoculars and watch chimney swifts dive by the thousands into the school’s chimney.  Visitors are welcome to both the club meeting and the Swift Night Out.  For directions or carpool information, contact club president Lisa Trail at 728-6045.

    3. Southern Tennessee Ladies Society

      The Southern Tennessee Ladies Society will meet Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Franklin County Country Club. Featured on the program is Jeff Arnett, master distiller from Jack Daniels. The buffet luncheon is $12 and includes dessert, coffee, tea, tax and tip. The reservation/cancellation deadline is noon on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The group’s mission is to award scholarships to graduating seniors in Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Lincoln and Moore counties.

    1. Annual McBurg BBQ (all-day)

      Annual McBurg BBQ will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the McBurg Community Center. A fundraiser for the center, which dates back over 100 years, will include lunch and a variety of activities. Troy Adams and The Pure Country Band will perform. BBQ plates will be served starting at 11 a.m. Hamburgers, hotdogs, nachos and ice cream will also be sold. A pageant will be held at 2 p.m., followed by a cornhole tournament at 4 p.m. There will also be a bouncy, house, slip-n-slide, kickball and a kids train.
