Weekly Saturday night dances are held at the American Legion Post 42, 2007 Wilson Pkwy., from 7-10 p.m. The dance is open to the public. The facility is a nonsmoking building, though a smoking area is provided outside. Country Roads Band plays a mix of country, country rock and classic rock and roll music. The cover charge is $6 per person. The kitchen grill is open for the sale of sandwiches, fries and soft drinks. The American Legion is a nonprofit organization, and proceeds from the dances helps in the funding for the aide to the veterans of Lincoln County.
Senior citizens’ exercise classes are currently being held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the Fayetteville/Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center. Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center’s Senior Dance is held each Tuesday from 1 until 4 p.m. Cover charge is $3 per person. A live band is on hand to provide music. Bring a dish to pass or just come and relax, listen to music, dance, eat and enjoy. The Senior Citizens Center is located at 908 West Washington Street, Fayetteville.
Grief Support Group is sponsored by Lincoln Medical Home Health & Hospice. Anyone in the community who has lost a loved one is invited to attend the Grief Support Group. The meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at noon and the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. They are held at Lincoln Home Health & Hospice, located at 1797 Wilson Parkway. The Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center’s Dayroom Chatter celebrates local veterans on the third Thursday of every month, from 1 until 2 p.m. All are invited to enjoy refreshments and camaraderie with fellow veterans playing games and activities. The South Central Human Resource Agency RSVP program will provide refreshments, host competitions and award prizes.
