Fayetteville High School’s Lady Tiger softball team split in action last week.
Thursday, FHS took care of business, defeating Middle Tennessee Christian in five innings, 12-0. Friday, the ladies went down in a battle on the road to Cascade, 1-0.
The Lady Tigers were to have traveled to Eagleville on Monday, but that game was rescheduled due to weather to a double header to be played at home on Monday of this week.
At home against the Lady Cougars, it was all Lady Tigers. The ladies plated runs, 3 in the first, 2 in the second, 1 in the third and 6 in the fourth.
On the mound, Riley Flemming went the distance with the FHS defense keeping MTC off the scoreboard, giving up 3 hits with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.
At the plate, the ladies had 12 hits in the five innings. Makinzie Moorehead and Tamyia Haston went 3 for 3. Mikayla Pridmore had a single and double; Riley Flemming tripled; Taylor Bryan doubled; Aundrea Welch and Allie Heffington singled.
Friday, FHS went down in a hard-fought game on the road to Cascade, 1-0.
With the match-up scoreless at the end of the sixth inning, the Lady Champions plated the only run of the night in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single.
Riley Flemming had a stellar night on the mound, giving up the 1 earned run off 6 hits, 2 walks and 13 strikeouts.
The ladies generated two hits with singles from Makinzie Moorehead and Tamyia Haston.
Fayetteville has a week full of action on hand, hosting Eagleville on Monday in a double header. Tuesday, the ladies travel to Culleoka for a double header starting at 5:30 p.m., then they move on to Cornersville Thursday for their third double header of the week starting at 5 p.m.
