The City of Fayetteville has begun accepting applications for its fire chief’s position, according to a notice published in the Classifieds’ section of this week’s Times.
The deadline for applications is March 15.
Serving as interim fire chief is Coby Moon, a 24-year veteran of the Fayetteville Fire Department. Moon took the position in the wake of the former fire chief’s retirement amid controversy. Danny Travis had been with the Fayetteville Fire Department since 1982 and began serving as assistant chief in 1998 and then chief in 2008.
“The fire chief’s position requires an individual with sound judgement, human resource skills, organizational development skills, and a can-do work ethic,” according to the notice in this week’s Times. “The fire chief is a highly visible city department head that is expected to project a professional image of the city and fire department in all situations.”
A job description and application is posted on the City of Fayetteville’s website at www.fayettevilletn.com/resident/career_and_employment_opportunities/index.php.
