For every famous person with a disability or difference, there are millions of others who have a similar disability or difference and who have successful lives. Albert Einstein, Tiger Woods, and Joseph Biden each dealt with a developmental disability. Most people are familiar with someone who has a disability or learns differently.
Lincoln County Child Development Center has provided services to the children of Lincoln County since 1985, servicing 40 plus children annually.
Teachers and families associated with the local center know high school and college graduates who participated in the early childhood intervention program. The CDC provides year-round early intervention services, focusing on children’s speech, language, cognitive, motor, and social development. Children from birth to three years are eligible for screening.
The Child Development Center also offers a Mother’s Day Out Program for all children ages 18-42 months.
The CDC relies on fundraising and community support to raise additional money necessary to operate the program. Currently the board members and volunteers are working to plan the annual “Breakfast with Santa”. This year’s breakfast is Dec. 1 from 8 until 11 a.m. at Lincoln County High School. There are activities being planned for children, and, of course, Santa will be there to visit with the children.
CDC invites everyone to come and support an important part of our community. They would also like to thank residents of Lincoln County for their continued support of the Lincoln County Child Development Center.
