The detection of a card-skimming device at a fuel pump of one of Fayetteville’s convenience stores has authorities urging everyone to be diligent in reviewing their credit card and/or bank statements.
“Report any suspicious activity to your banking institution, which will then advice you of the proper steps to take in an attempt to correct any problems,” said Detective Lt. Joel Massey of the Fayetteville Police Department Thursday.
Massey said that over the last few months, the department has received several reports of fraudulent activity appearing on people’s bank and credit card statements. On Friday, June 30, detectives with FPD received more reports of this fraudulent activity, and acting on information from these reports, was able to locate a card skimmer at one of the convenience stores here in town.
