Beta Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met at Russell Catering in Lewisburg on Thursday, Sept. 12.
Meri Bigham, president, welcomed all present. The Inspirational Challenge was given by Bonnie Dalton, and then members enjoyed fellowship and great food catered by Russell Catering. President Bigham then introduced the program. The speaker for the evening was Lillian Cashion, a massage therapist. She gave a very interesting talk about her profession and how it helps many people lead a more meaningful life.
President Bigham then conducted the business part of the meeting. Helen Lowe was recognized as the new vice president of the chapter. Teresa Brown reminded everyone of the Imagination Library 5K Run, which was to be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Stone Bridge Park. Helen Fussell, a DKG member, is in charge of this fundraiser. The chapter approved changes in the bylaws.
Then the initiation ceremony of four new members was conducted by Barbara Vannatta. The members are Brenda Ables, Laura Ingram, Sara Calahan and Kristen Morjal. These ladies were welcomed by the chapter. Bigham also informed members that a DKG transfer would be part of the chapter. Her name is Clare Mathis, and she will be welcomed at the next meeting, which will be in Fayetteville. It will be a silent auction to earn money for the scholarship fund. The meeting then adjourned.
