Beta Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met at Cahoots Restaurant on Aug. 24.
President Carla Caldwell welcomed the 24 members present. President Caldwell gave members a Star Polisher inspirational challenge, and Barbara Vannatta led the group in prayer before the meal.
The chapter approved the minutes prepared by Secretary Gay Brunson and the treasurer’s report prepared by Treasurer Andrea Hardison. The chapter accepted the resignation of April Patterson. Meri Bigham agreed to prepare the newsletter for the biennium.
Felicia Harper Eddings will be initiated at the Oct. 17 meeting. Martha Wolf and Marie Van Lantschoot agreed to prepare the chapter yearbook for this year.
Treasurer Andrea Hardison reminded members that deadline for dues is Oct. 31.
Members are excited about the silent auction which will be held in October, and Melanie Laten told members about plans for a painting tea party next spring.
Members will also be collecting for the scholarship fund with a No Bake, Bake Sale. Ginger Hardison told members the Marshall County scholarship winner for 2017 was Glyndon Wickes.
Helen Lowe announced the Lincoln County Imagination Library 5k run will be held on Sept. 9.
Members then celebrated the 96th Aug. 30 birthday of Erline Patrick. Members gave her cards and sang happy birthday to her. She has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for 48 years. Congratulations to Mrs. Erline.
