The Bank of Lincoln County plans to open a student branch inside the halls of Lincoln County High School, according to officials.
County school board members reviewed proposals from three banks during a recent board meeting before approving a proposal from the Bank of Lincoln County for the construction of a student bank in the high school.
“I will reiterate that there is not much cash kept on site, and it will not be publicized as a branch open to the public,” Gay Dempsey, Bank of Lincoln County’s CEO, said in remarks to the board. “We are very cognizant of your liability for security.”
Dempsey went on to explain that the bank would not need a large space to operate, citing one possible location as a closet near the boys’ bathrooms in the band room area. The facility will need to be located near the cafeteria, she said, because it will be made available to students during their lunch period.
