Hands of Mercy Outreach Center’s Back to School Mobile Pantry will be held Saturday, July 26, with food distribution beginning at 11 a.m. at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.
Food will be distributed to about 250 people with identification and proof of Lincoln County residency.
During the Back to School Mobile Pantry, a limited number of school backpacks, along with school supplies, will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parents, who pre-registered for children’s shoes on Easter Sunday, may bring their children and pick up their shoes.
“This will be the one and only pickup for shoes,” said Tina Hudson, Hope Assembly of God administrator.
Hairstylists will be giving kids free haircuts, and the Lion’s Club will be offering both children and adults free vision and hearing screening.
“The first 75 children to get vision and hearing screening will get a free ice cream cone from Sonic,” said Hudson.
Hope Assembly’s congregation purchased the backpack and S.O.L.E.S. of Hope Ministry buys the shoes.
“Shoe Sensation did a fundraiser to help with the shoe purchases,” said Hudson.
Hope Assembly also works with Hands of Mercy to help purchase school supplies.
“Other churches help with the supplies, too,” noted Hudson.
Volunteers who would like to donate their time to the Back to School Food Pantry should be at the Fairgrounds by 10 a.m.
