Hands of Mercy’s Back to School Mobile Pantry will be held Saturday, July 22, at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.
Distribution begins at 10 a.m. Volunteers should arrive at 9 a.m.
Free food will be distributed to the first 250 families on a first-come, first-serve basis. Free backpacks will be handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis, as well.
Registration will start at 8 a.m. for food and backpacks. Participants will need a valid ID and proof of Lincoln County residency for both. All registration will be in one line so participants will be in the same line for food or backpacks. The children must be present at 8 a.m. to receive an armband for a backpack.
“Distribution of food and backpacks will not start until 10 a.m.,” said Tina Hudson of Hands of Mercy. “That way, families can stay together while they are waiting to register and get their armband.”
The registration process is different this year so organizers are stressing to participants that if you are coming for food or backpacks, you will be in one line, and your children must be present to get their armband to receive a backpack.
The distribution of shoes will start at 10 a.m., and those receiving shoes have already been pre-registered at an earlier date.
Volunteers are asked to be on hand by 9 a.m.
The shoes and backpacks are being provided by Hope Assembly of God. The school supplies that are in the backpacks are provided by Hands of Mercy.
The Fayetteville College of Cosmetology will be on site providing free haircuts for the children.
“Thank you to everyone who makes this day possible to bless the families and children in Lincoln County,” Hudson said. “We couldn’t do it without all of us coming together to give of our time, resources, money and abilities to make this day a reality.”
