Flintville Elementary School students in Felicia Riner’s class recently participated in 2013 Area 13 Summer Olympic Games at Tullahoma High School. Allison Pigg (fifth from left) was the torch bearer for the Olympic Games, and Felicia Riner (fourth from left) received Coach of the Year Award. The students received multiple first and second place ribbons in softball toss, standing and running long jump and 50-, 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes.

    Tucker Lucas was the winner of the Hampton Cove Racquet Club Mark Lindberg Memorial Tournament held recently.   Tucker won in the boys’ age 12 division.   He is a member of the Riverside Christian Academy middle school tennis team.

  • Archery Park hosts first 3D Tournament

    Decatur, Ala. – The Morgan County Chapter of Bowhunters of Alabama (BHA) will host a 3D archery tournament Memorial Day weekend at the Community Archery Park located in Point Mallard Park. Set for May 25-26, 2013, the two-day tournament is open to the public and to BHA members and is expected to draw around 200 participants.  The tournament course layout features 20 targets, all of which will be 3D targets.

    In honor of National Bike Month, the League of American Bicyclists has released its latest Bicycle Friendly States (BFS) ranking. In the sixth annual assessment, Tennessee ranked 2nd in the southeast region, while placing 17th nationally.
