  • Lifeguarding classes set

    Lifeguarding classes are being offered at Patrick Rehab Wellness Center beginning on March 29. Participants must be 15 years of age by June 3, 2105. This is a 25-hour course with blended learning – pool, classroom and independent computer work. Participants must be able to swim 300 yards. Class schedule is March 29, April 12, 19, 26 and May 3 and 10. Register at Patrick Rehab Wellness by March 28.

    Retired Falcon Football Coach and LCHS Athletic Director Louis Thompson was honored last week during the 49th Annual Middle Tennessee Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Banquet held in Nashville. Coach Thompson was presented the Roy Kramer Contribution to Football Award by retired NFL Quarterback and Lincoln County High School graduate, Kelly Holcomb.

  • Hunters for Hungry donations rise this season

    Though Tennessee’s deer harvest was down this season compared to last year, the Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Hunters for the Hungry program reports strong numbers, including an increase in whole deer donations. HFTH Manager Matt Simcox says hunters harvested 164,638 deer in Tennessee over the 2014-15 season, a decrease of around 2.5 percent over 2013-14.   • Dodgeball tournament aids Child Development

    The “Big Hands Helping Little Hands” Dodgeball Tournament will be held Saturday, April 18, at 12 noon at Fayetteville High School. Proceeds from this event will stay in Lincoln County and benefit children’s programs through the Child Development Center. Only the first 30 teams will be accepted for the competition.   • Golf outing aids 10U Velocity

    The Velocity 10U baseball team’s first annual Golf Outing, a four man scramble, will be held Saturday, March 21, at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Fayetteville. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with tee-off at 9 a.m. The cost is $55 per single or $220 a team. This includes 18 holes of golf, a cart and lunch. Events include a putting challenge, longest drive, closest to the pin and chip challenge.
