April Holt is pictured with medals she won in the Summer State Special Olympic Aquatics in Nashville. Holt won 4th place in 50-meter backstroke, second place in 50-meter freestyle and second place in 250-meter freestyle. Summer Games Special Olympic bocce was also played with Dwight Vogel bringing home one bronze medal and one silver medal.   • FMS cheer clinic set Saturday

    The Fayetteville Middle School cheerleaders, along with sponsor/coach Tiffany Watson, will hold a cheerleading clinic for ages 4 through 12 on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost for the clinic is $25 and includes a t-shirt, pom poms and an invitation to cheer at the first FMS home football game on Sept. 5.   All participants will learn chants, a cheer and a dance and participate

  • Library TWRA boat exam test site

    The Fayetteville/Lincoln County Public Library is now offering Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) boating exams by appointment only. Those interested in taking the exam should call the library at 433-3286 to arrange for an authorized proctor to administer the exam. For information about the boating exam, visit the TWRA at http://www.tn.gov/twra/. The Fayetteville/Lincoln County Public Library is located at 306 Elk Avenue North.

  • Kid fishing day set at Stonebridge

    The 12th Annual Kids Fishing Day will be held Saturday, June 8, at Stonebridge Park Pond in Fayetteville. The free fishing rodeo is presented by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation, Walmart, Tennessee Wildlife Officers Association and the Lincoln County Mayor and Commission.   • South sets summer cheer camp in July

    South Lincoln Middle School cheerleaders are once again holding a mini cheerleading camp this summer. Camp will be held July 10-12 from 2:30 until 5:30 p.m. each day. The camp is for ages five-years (entering kindergarten) to fifth grade in the fall of 2013. Activities will include the fundamentals of cheerleading suitable for each age group. The participants will learn a short dance, cheer, chants, simple stunting and various jumps.

    Lincoln County High School will hold its annual Alumni Soccer Game  on Saturday, June 8, at the LCHS soccer field. Registration gets underway at 3:30 p.m. with the women’s game starting at 4:30 and the men’s game following at 6 p.m. The fee is $25 to participate with proceeds going to the LCHS Soccer Booster Club benefiting both the boys’ and girls’ teams.
