FHS aids nursing home residents

Fayetteville City Lady Tigers’ basketball Team is collecting sweat suits, sweat shirts or pants to give to nursing home residents. Collection will take place on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Drop-off locations include McDonalds and Advanced Financial. McDonalds will be handing out coupons for every new item donated. The Lady Tigers’ motto is “giving our all on and off the court!”

  • Tip-Off action continues

    The Fayetteville Lions Club Tip-Off Tournament continues this week with games played at Ninth Grade Academy. With four games played each night, the action gets underway at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The championship games will be held on Friday night this year.     Inky speaks

    Inspirational speaker and author, Inky Johnson, delivered a powerful message of determination and hope recently when he appeared as a part of Disability Awareness Month at Motlow College. Johnson, who played football for the University of Tennessee before being injured, recounted the difficulties he faced growing up in inner-city Atlanta and how those early lessons learned have helped him persevere following the injury that ended his football career.

  • RCA sets Jr. Pro sign-ups

    Riverside Christian Academy will have Jr. Pro basketball and cheerleading for any child ages four to 12 years of age (as of July 31, 2014). Registration is going on now through Nov. 14.   • RCA’s X-C team back-to-back conference champions

    Riverside Christian Academy’s cross-country teams finished their season at the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference (MTAC) championship meet in Brentwood. The Knights’ varsity girls’ cross-country team won the conference championship for the second year in a row, and nine RCA runners were elected to the all conference team in their respective divisions.
