The veteran’s grave marker for Capt. Nathan S. Boone, CSA, at the Booneville Cemetery was formally dedicated on Nov. 3 by the John R. Massey Camp 152, Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Capt. Boone served as part of Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest’s Calvary Escort during the War Between the States. Approximately 50 people attended the memorial service for this distinguished soldier and citizen of Booneville, who died in 1898.
Dr. Michael Bradley, past commander of the Tennessee Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, was the key-note speaker and told of the many battles and adventures that Capt. Boone lived through.
Representatives of three chapters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy were present, including members from the John Hunt Morgan Chapter, the Peter Turney Chapter and the Zollicoffer-Fulton Chapter.
The SCV Brigade Commander for Central Tennessee, Joey Nolan, was also present.
