USDA meet this week on discrimination claims
The USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA), Rural Development (RD) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will attend a public meeting hosted by the Shelbyville-Bedford County Chamber of Commerce.
Each agency will provide program updates, and Gene Davidson, Tennessee Farm Service Agency state executive director, will discuss the Hispanic and Women Farmers and Ranchers Claims Process. The claims period opened on Sept. 24, 2012 and will close on March 25, 2013.
Kevin Brown, NRCS state conservationist, will also be in attendance.
The public meeting, organized for Hispanic and women farmers and ranchers who allege USDA discrimination when seeking USDA farm loan assistance between 1981 and 2000, will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Shelbyville-Bedford County Chamber of Commerce located at 100 North Cannon Boulevard in Shelbyville.
