Camp Blount oak seedlings available

A limited number of white oak seedlings are available from the Camp Blount tree, formerly at the Wal-Mart site in Fayetteville.

Lincoln County FFA and 4-H members collected acorns from the remaining tree last fall before it was lost.

The acorns were grown to seedlings by UT Forestry researcher Dr. Scott Schlarbaum at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

These one-year-old seedlings are available for a $10 donation at Lincoln County Extension from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. weekdays starting Oct. 24 while supplies last.

Funds raised will be divided among Lincoln County FFA, Lincoln County 4-H and the Lincoln County “Crossroads to Destiny” History Scholarship.

Contact Lincoln County Extension at 433-1582 for additional information.
