Riverside Christian Academy’s varsity football team dropped their first game in over a month on Friday night to the Aaron Academy Royals.
The Knights were the first team to put points on the board with a 46-yard pass from Reagan Eldridge to Josh Brooks for a touchdown with 11:43 left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion was no good for a score of 6-0.
The Royals then answered with two rushing touchdowns and two two-point conversions to lead the Knights 16-6.
Reagan Eldridge connected with receiver Seth Finch on a 38-yard touchdown pass for the Knights’ second touchdown of the game with 1:28 left in the half. The two-point conversion was no good for a score of RCA, 12, AA, 16.
The Royals would score one more touchdown before the half for a score of RCA, 12, AA, 22, at the break.
The Royals added two more touchdowns and two more two-point conversions to their lead in the first five minutes of the third quarter to lead the Knights 38-12.
RCA Quarterback Reagan Eldridge scored a touchdown on a 16-yard run to the end zone with less than one minute left in the third quarter. Eldridge connected with Finch on a pass for the two-point conversion for a score of RCA, 20, AA, 38.
The Royals went on a scoring run with three touchdowns and a two-point conversion before RCA would answer with another score.
Eldridge connected with Finch again on a 25-yard pass with 1:23 left in the game. The two-point conversion was no good, for a final score of 58-26.
Reagan Eldridge led the Knights on offense with 12 carries for 55 yards, one touchdown and three first downs. He also led the Knights in passing,, completing 10 of 25 passes for 195 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
Josh Brooks and Seth Finch were Eldridge’s go-to receivers. Each had six catches. Brooks had a total of 119 receiving yards, one touchdown and four first downs. Finch had 109 yards, two touchdowns and two first downs. Brooks also completed his only pass attempt for 20 yards and a first down.
Nathan Elrod led the Knights on defense with nine tackles, two assists, two caused fumbles and one fumble recovery. Josh Hill also contributed a great deal on the defensive side of the ball for the Knights with five tackles, one assist and one caused fumble.
Also contributing were Nathan Moose with four tackles; Seth Finch with three tackles; Reagan Eldridge with an interception and run back of 49 yards and one tackle; Josh Brooks with three tackles and one assist; Valentin Orfeuvre with one tackle; Austin Wooten with one tackle, two assists and one fumble recovery; Josh Mills with three tackles; and Jarrod Trahin with one tackle and one fumble recovery.
The Knights earned a bye this week in the Middle Tennessee Athletic Conference post-season playoffs. They will play on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. at Currey Ingram Academy for the MTAC Division 2 Championship.
