Lincoln County High School’s golf team advanced through the District 8-AAA tournament held at Lawrence County to the regionals at Smyrna.
Lawrence County took the win easily with a team score of 298. Tullahoma was second with a 326. Lincoln County and Franklin County finished tied for third place with a 338. The Falcons took the spot to the regional on the first hole of the team playoff.
Columbia finished at 353 and Shelbyville had a 356.
All five of Lawrence County’s team members finished in the 70s. Hunter Statum finished with a 74 for Tullahoma. Trent Sloan led the Falcons with a 76. Other scores for Lincoln County were Bryan Gill with an 83; Hunter Middleton, 85; and Hunter Long shot a 94. Brent Gibson had an 81 for Franklin County, Jackson Calvin had a 75 for Columbia and Sterling Smith had an 80 for Shelbyville.
In the girls’ action, Tullahoma’s Ellen Morataya led with a 94. Lincoln County’s Samantha Reed finished second with a 95, and Shelbyville’s Amy Beth McGowan had a 100 to finish third.
In the region tournament in Smyrna, Siegel finished on top with a 301; Lawrence County was second with a 307; Tullahoma, 315; Smyrna, 322; Oakland, 332; and Lincoln County had a 343.
Falcon Trent Sloan finished one stroke beyond the 75 qualifying round, shooting a 76.
