Go Purple Friday Lincoln County Mayor Peggy Bevels recognizes World Alzheimer’s Awareness Day and Go Purple Friday with winning participants of the recent Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Although all of September is officially World Alzheimer’s Month, on Sept. 21 people were encouraged to wear purple, the color of the Alzheimer’s movement, to honor the more than five million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and millions more who care for them. The Alzheimer’s Team Champions from the Walk to End Alzheimer’s include Bailey Manor, St. Anthony Catholic Church, ALZ Time HELEN Fan, Team Mamaw and Remember When. The event’s top participants were Pat Bronner, Jennifer Cobb, Kristen George, Brittany Ashby and Carolyn Carper. Pictured here are (from left) Cherie Rice, team leader of Bailey Manor; Mayor Bevels; Pat Bronner, first place “Champions” team leader for St. Anthony in memory of Louise Gannon; and Jennifer Cobb who helped both with Alz Time HELEN Fan and Bailey Manor.
