James Arvis Duck, 44, of Athens, Ala., died Sunday (Sept. 2, 2012) at his home. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. John Gary Evans, 61, of Ardmore, Ala., died Sunday (Sept. 2, 2012) at his home. Informal funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home. A private burial was in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Edna Morrow Gault, 93, of Kelso, died Sunday morning (Sept. 9, 2012) in Lincoln Care Center. She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late John and Delia Wilson Smith Morrow. Mrs. Gault was retired from Blue Ridge Manufacturing, was a member of the Crystal Springs Church of God and sang with the Old Timers Quartet for 40 years. She was a loving and supportive grandmother to all the grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Jodine Bean of Fayetteville, Barbara Faye (Bill) Slatton of Kelso, Reba (Roy) Roland of Fayetteville, Sonny (Venice) Gault of Flintville, Carolyn Mitchell of Fayetteville, Mary Alice McDow of Kelso; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Daniel of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gault was preceded in death by infant son, Ronald Wayne Gault; grandson, Stephen McPherson; great-granddaughter, Ashlea McPherson; sister, Frances Cook; two brothers, Gene and Ralph Morrow; and two sons-in-law, Forrest Ray Mitchell and Raymond Bean. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Carlos Beddingfield and Bro. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Kelso Cemetery beside her husband, Leon Gault, Sr. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Alyssa Nichole Ludovice, age 16, died on Wednesday (Sept. 5, 2012) in Lakewood, Ill.  She was born December 15, 1995 in Hoffman Estates, the daughter of Cherri Towry Ludovice and the late Christopher J. Ludovice.  Alyssa was just beginning her junior year at Elgin High School where she was very active in the Music Department as a member of the Mellodears and Concert Choirs. She was also a part of the Elgin High School Marching Band as a member of the color guard. She had a lovely singing voice and had participated in school musicals and talent shows since middle school. She was a gifted artist and craftsperson and was proficient in archery, origami and creative writing. She is survived by her mother, Cherri Towry Ludovice, and sister, Rachel, of Elgin; grandparents, Wade and Connie Towry of Buffalo Grove, Ron and Angie Books of Elgin and Joan Ludovice of Hoffman Estates; great-grandmother, Katherine Tillman of Elgin; uncles and aunts, Jeff (Cindy) Ludovice of Hebron, Indiana; Richard Towry of Hoffman Estates; Carla (John) Giuccione, Arlington Heights, Abraham Betancourth of California; Danielle (Ocilel) Haro of Arlington Heights. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Donald J. Ludovice, her aunt, Lisa Kirk-Cordes, and joined in death by her adoring Dad, Christopher J. Ludovice.  A time of visiting with family and friends began at 1 p.m. with a memorial service following on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Fox Valley Baptist Church at 16N562 Vista Lane, East Dundee, Ill. Christopher John Ludovice, 54, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2012) in Lakewood, Ill. He was born on May 5, 1958 to Joan and the late Donald J. Ludovice of Hoffman Estates. Chris had a long career as a master of auto body work with exceptional mechanical skills in a variety of areas. He was a devoted husband and dad, and loyal friend and neighbor. Chris was unique. Anyone who knew him knew what a character he was. He loved life, spicy food, motorcycles, his family and the Lord.  He was an active member of the Fox Valley Baptist Church in East Dundee. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Cherri Towry Ludovice and loving daughter, Rachel of Elgin; his mother, Joan Ludovice of Hoffman Estates; one brother, Jeff (Cindy) Ludovice of Hebron, Indiana; in-laws, Wade and Connie Towry of Buffalo Grove, Ron and Angie Books of Elgin; grandmother, Katherine “Mema” Tillman of Elgin; Richard Towry of Hoffman Estates; Carla (John) Giuccione, Arlington Heights, Abraham Betancourth of California; Danielle (Ocilel) Haro of Arlington Heights. Dorothy Jean McLemore, 78, of Blanche, died Monday (Sept. 3, 2012) at Huntsville Hospital. Richard Lee Patterson, 65, of Ardmore, died Friday (Sept. 7, 2012) after a two-year courageous battle with lung cancer. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon with Bro. Billy Taylor officiating. Kerry Wayne Reese, 55, of Fayetteville, died Thursday morning (Sept. 6, 2012) in Baptist Hospital following a lengthy illness. A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Reese was the son of the late Buford and Georgie Mae Thompson Reese. He was a carpenter, enjoyed collecting antiques, loved yard sales and was a member of the Friendship Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Lisa Brooks Reese of Fayetteville; two daughters, Chelsey Mae (Zachery) Bobo of Fayetteville and Morgan Elizabeth (Aaron) Vick of Fayetteville; two brothers, Horace and Jerry Reese, both of Fayetteville; two sisters, Shirley Martin of Fayetteville and Colleen Stewart of Tullahoma. Mr. Reese was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy, Fred and Joe Reese, and sister, Margaret Douglas. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Wiser and Bro. Joe Brown officiating. Burial followed in Stewarts Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Harold William Shelt, 90, a resident of Flintville and a highly decorated Army veteran, serving in World War II, died Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2012) at his home. Funeral services were held Friday morning at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Dale Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery with full military honors. Alberta M.  Sumney, 86, of Mulberry, died Monday (Sept. 3, 2012) at her residence. Survivors include her husband, Paul Sumney; two daughters, Anna Norris and Paula Miller and husband, DeWayne; two sons, Jerry Sumney and wife, Dianne, and Terry and wife, DeAnne; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. The memorial service was conducted Friday afternoon at Valhalla Funeral Home. Interment was in Champ Cemetery. Valhalla Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
